SUMMER  and we are back into showcasing NEW and interesting areas of our country.  We open Our NEW 2014 Season of NGARNZ Adventures with a One Day,  Guide Led  Adventure to Tour the gorgeous Coastal Peninsula of Tapora and surrounds.                                                                             

Tapora is a locality on the Okahukura Peninsula, which is on the eastern side of the Kaipara Harbour and it is part of the Rodney District.   Wellsford lies to the east of this.

2 DAY - FEBRUARY 22ND/23RD 2014

 

 

The Mōkau River has been central to life for those living in this area for centuries. It has been a source of food and income – as well as a major transport route – for both Māori and Pākehā, and is the traditional boundary between the Taranaki and Tainui peoples. This is the coastal end of the river, with the mouth visible at top right.

Awakino lies beside the beautiful Awakino River, on one of the last bends before the river drains into the Tasman Sea. Whitebaiting stations and small jetties are located on both sides of the river. This is the settlement of Awakino, looking up the river along Iredale Quay.

 

Ride Package includes overnight twin share accommodation along with Saturday evening dinner and also hot cooked breakfast Sunday morning

This Regions hosts large festivals over the October Labour Weekend, and as such accommodation was extremely scarce and also extremely expensive with surcharges and other add ons.  When we originally planned this Tour we thought to keep numbers small owing to the large kms that this Tour will cover,  both on and off road terrain.  This number being reached earlier than expected it then became difficult to obtain reasonable priced additional accommodation.  For the 2014 Season we have now secured accommodation for 40 bed spaces, so we are well covered.

Our Heartland Tour will cater for Intermediate to Advanced Level Riders and will offer large km riding days over our weekend in this Region.
